The Grace Sweater

The idea for my brand started in winter of 2022. I had just came back from London where I found the perfect fitted wool coat made from Harris Tweed. I kept thinking of how hard it is to find clothing for women that fits well and made from high quality materials in the US. I wanted to create a brand based on craftsmanship and timeless heirlooms that could be passed down.
I decided that my first product would be a fisherman sweater when I was unable to find one that was a modern slim fit but also made of 100% wool. Many sweaters on the market are either a wool blend, cotton, or oversized. A wool blend combines wool with synthetic fibers and is prone to cause overheating.
The benefits of 100% wool is that is an excellent insulator, able to keep you warm in cold weather and cool in warmer temperatures. It naturally absorbs moisture which helps regulate body temperature. Wool also allows air to circulate and promotes a breathable fabric. Wool is naturally antimicrobial and known for its strength and resilience.
I found the perfect merino wool from Tollegno 1900. Based in Tollegno, Italy, the company is a global leader in producing luxury wool fabrics with sustainable and eco-friendly practices. Tollegno 1900 is Oeko-Tex Standard 100, 4S CHEM, and Woolmark certified. I chose merino wool over the other types for it’s softness. I wanted to create a sweater that you can live in.
My brand is a love letter to classic Americana. I’m inspired by the timeless spirit of the Northeast and New England, where individualism meets enduring style. I’ve always had admiration for retro fashion, so my goal is to revive styles from a bygone era with a modern fit. I am also motivated by the craftsmanship of retro fashion, before fast-fashion became a thing. To me, it’s not just about the aesthetic, but also making things the way they used to.
